Zambia has confirmed a total of 15 Mpox cases, with 8 new cases reported in Lusaka. The Ministry of Health is actively tracing contacts and enhancing surveillance efforts to curb the spread of the disease.
Mpox in Zambia
Joshua Siame, Senior Health Promotions Officer at the Ministry of Health, shared this update during an appearance on ZNBC’s The Update program. He explained that the cases are primarily concentrated in Kanyama, Bauleni, Garden, and Upper Lusaka.
Mr Siame emphasized the growing urgency of public awareness, noting the rapid increase in cases. He also mentioned that the Ministry, in collaboration with the Bus and Taxis Owners Association of Zambia, is working to educate bus drivers on the risks of Mpox, as it is mainly transmitted through close contact.
