Businessman Harry Findlay used two different passports when he traveled out of and back into Zambia in August 2017, according to information provided to a magistrate by an immigration officer.
The two passports used are ZP013259 and ZP021382, according to immigration deputy officer-in-charge Linda Kunda-Mtonga at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA).
In this instance, Findlay is charged with possessing several passports in 2017.
It is alleged that Findlay purchased a Zambian passport with the number ZP021382 on March 14, 2017, despite not actually losing a passport with the number ZP013259.
Ms. Mtonga testified during the trial today before magistrate Silvia Munyinya that on October 6, 2022, Mr. Frank Michelo from the Department of Immigration headquarters’ Risk Management & Compliance Unit visited KKIA to conduct an investigation.
She claimed Mr. Michelo provided her with two passports bearing the numbers ZP013259 and ZP021382 and instructed her to check the department’s border management system to see if both passports had been used interchangeably between 2016 and 2019.
Both passports were valid and belonged to Findlay, who was born on January 26, 1963, according to Ms. Mtonga’s system check.
“Both passports were used at the same time. On August 8, 2017, Mr Findlay left the country on passport number ZP021382,” she narrated.
Ms Mtonga said the passport showed that Findlay returned into Zambia on August 24, 2017 using passport number ZP013259.
Trial comes on March 21 this year.
