DOUGLAS SYAKALIMA, the education minister, has urged coordinated action to overcome the literacy crisis plaguing the educational system.

From a test of 9500 students, only 437 students in grade two were able to read, according to Mr. SYAKALIMA’s analysis of USAID Education data research results for 2021.

According to him, there is a problem with all seven instructional languages utilized in schools.

Speaking today at the USAID Education Data Summit in Lusaka was the education minister.

The relationship with the Ministry of Education will enable early study of young children’s grade reading ability, according to USAID Mission Director PETER WIEBLER.

Additionally, the Covid-19 pandemic, according to DevTech President RAFAEL ROMEU, likely played a role in the declining performance of early grade reading.
