Programs Manager for Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) In order to ensure that all candidates are held to the same standards of accountability and openness, RAYMOND MUTALE has urged for the regulation of election spending.
Mr. Mutale remarked during a press conference that supporting political party campaigns helps to increase openness and combat corruption.
According to Mr. Mutale, a quantitative study done during the general elections in 2021 showed that the period leading up to adoption is when the most money is spent, then the post-election period, and finally the campaign period.
In order to ensure that all candidates meet the same standards of accountability and openness, he said it is crucial to regulate election spending.
