UN Will Support Rural Area Development

The Zambian United Nations system has promised to cooperate with the government to make sure that nationwide development programs are implemented in all 116 districts.

According to UN Resident Coordinator BEATRICE MUTALI, the international organization will make sure that both urban and rural communities are included in development activities.

Decentralization is essential to bringing development to all sections of the nation, according to Ms. Mutali in a speech read for her by International Labor Organization -ILO- Country Director GEORGE OKUTHO at the Joint Sustainable Development Goals -SDGs Fund conference in Lusaka.

Ms. Mutali stated that it is crucial to involve the private sector in resource mobilization when carrying out developmental projects.

Moreover, the country’s finance minister, SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE, praised the UN for supporting a number of programs.

According to Dr. MUSOKOTWANE, the UN has assisted Zambia with its budget, the 2022 National Census of Population and Housing, and other other initiatives.

In a speech that Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance LOIS MULUBE read for him, he made this statement.
