The Copperbelt city of Ndola’s LEVY Mwanawasa Stadium has been given the all-clear to host the African Athletics Championship.
The 2023 Championship is slated to begin on April 28 and run until May 3.
The examination that was carried out on April 6, 2023, according to KANGWA CHILESHE, the permanent secretary for sports, has verified that the stadium is fit to host the tournament.
At a news conference in Lusaka, CHILESHE stated that the CAA’s hosting will, among other things, assist the tourism industry because more than a thousand athletes and delegates will be traveling for the event.
Additionally, ELIAS MPONDELA, the president of Zambia Athletics, announced that the Championship will feature competitors from over 50 nations.
The installation of air conditioning, according to Kenya Athletics Communications and Sustainability Officer MAXWELL NYAMU, is currently under progress.
