Burglars Beaten After invading and breaking into 27-year OLDS Home

After breaking into a home and tying the owner and her maid, FOUR suspects were attacked by a mob in the Kamwala neighborhood of Lusaka.

After convincing the maid that the owner of the home had asked them to refill the gas in the stove, the suspects were able to enter through the gate.

The incident happened in the Kamwala residential area on March 9, 2023, between 11:00 and 12:00.

The maid then phoned the 27-year-old female owner of the residence, who confronted the accused at the gate, according to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale.

He claimed that while the owner was speaking to them, one of the suspects grabbed her by the neck, stole the key from her, opened the gate, and entered the building.

The house owner’s brother, however, showed up at the gate before the suspects could carry out their plot.

“The suspects noticed and attempted to run away, but in the process they were apprehended by the neighbours.

The case was reported and officers rushed to the scene where they found the suspects being beaten by a mob. They were only rescued by Police officers who later apprehended them,” he said.

According to Mr. Mwale, the accused are Anderson Chalwe, 45, Obedi Mboshi, 42, Emmanuel Mwansa, 39, and Emmanuel Mulenga, 44, all of unknown address.

He said that all of them were treated and admitted to university teaching hospitals.

In the meantime, Situmbeko Amulomba, 41, was detained by Luangwa District police in connection with the death of his 11-year-old son.

On March 9, 2023, concerned neighbors in the Luangwa District’s Soweto neighborhood called the police to report that Mr. Situmbeko had been spotted hitting his kid, who had since passed away in the hospital there under mysterious circumstances.

“The incident occurred on March 4, 2023 around 19:00 hours and the boy died on March 7, 2023 at 12:00 hours.

The incident was not reported to Police until on March 9, 2023 when the deceased was being buried and Police officers swung into action and halted the burial ceremony,” he said.

Officers examined the deceased’s body, according to Mr. Mwale, and discovered it had numerous wounds.

He claimed that following the burial, authorities quickly caught the suspect and designated the site for exhumation and a postmortem.

“Initial investigations revealed that on March 4, 2023 around 19:00 hours in Soweto Compound of Luangwa District, Situmbeko Amulomba (junior) is alleged to have stolen K100.00 belonging to his father.

However, this development did not sit well with the father who severely beat the boy,” he said.

Mr Mwale said the suspect is detained in Police custody yet to be formally charged.
