Seven members of two infamous gangs—Savage Kingdom and the Demon or TY—were hurt during a fight at Kitwe’s Kawama compound.
After being struck with matchets by their adversaries, the seven gang members suffered injuries.
The two parties involved in the brawl, according to Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba, are well known for intimidating local residents.
According to Mr. Mweemba, the gang members began trading blows under mysterious circumstances.
He said that the incident took place on Friday between 8:00 and 20:00 at Solola bye and Paka White bars.
“We received a report of seven cases of unlawful wounding and this was after the two groups of notorious boys called savage kingdom and demon or TY clashed. These two groups are known to be terrorizing people in this community and the police are on the ground patrolling the area to maintain law and order, so far no arrest has been made,”he said.
Harrison Mumba, 20, who had a major cut on his head and had his itel phone, worth K900, stolen, was among those he named as the injured.
Five youth members, including 20-year-old Michael Banda, sustained several wounds, according to Mr. Mweemba.
